The name points back to a lineage of European underground venues carved out of literal fortifications and industrial ruins, where the architecture was as raw as the music: bare concrete, low ceilings, fog you could lean on, and a single strobe doing the work of a light rig.

Browsers can't read audio from an embedded YouTube player for security reasons, so YouTube uses a tempo-synced engine that locks the visuals to playback and BPM. For true frequency reactivity, load your own audio file and the visualizer runs a real FFT on it.
Open the Audio tab and load an MP3 or WAV from your device. The visualizer analyses the real audio — bass, mids and highs — and drives every effect from it. You can add cover art and it plays back locally.
Yes. You can record a clip of the visuals together with your own audio file to a downloadable video, and grab still frames as PNG images. (YouTube's own video pixels can't be captured for copyright reasons, but your audio-file visuals record fully.)
Yes. The 3D Tunnel pattern uses WebGL to fly a tunnel of light rings toward the camera in time with the music. It falls back to a 2D tunnel automatically if your device doesn't support WebGL.
